Crack Injections

Crack injection systems and curtain wall injection systems are both methods used in construction and civil engineering to repair and reinforce concrete structures. They are typically employed to address issues such as cracks, leaks, or weaknesses in the concrete.

Crack Injection Systems

Purpose: Crack injection is used to repair cracks in concrete structures, preventing water ingress, reinforcing the structure, and restoring its integrity.

Types of Systems:

Epoxy Injection Systems: Epoxy resins are injected into cracks to fill and seal them. These resins have high strength and bonding properties, providing effective structural repair.

Polyurethane Injection Systems: Polyurethane resins are injected into cracks, expanding to fill voids and cracks, forming a flexible and waterproof seal.

How They Work: Both epoxy and polyurethane injection systems involve drilling holes into the concrete near the crack, injecting the resin under pressure into the crack until it is filled. The resin then cures, bonding with the surrounding concrete and sealing the crack.

Curtain Wall Injection Systems

Purpose: Curtain wall injection is used to repair and waterproof curtain walls, which are non-structural exterior building walls often made of glass and aluminum.

Types of Systems:

Silicone Injection Systems: Silicone-based sealants are injected into joints and gaps in the curtain wall system to prevent water infiltration and maintain the building envelope’s integrity.

Acrylic Injection Systems: Acrylic-based sealants are injected in a similar manner to silicone, providing waterproofing and sealing properties.

How They Work: Curtain wall injection systems involve injecting the chosen sealant material into the gaps and joints of the curtain wall system. The sealant adheres to the surfaces and cures, forming a flexible and waterproof barrier against water intrusion.

In both types of injection systems, the goal is to prevent further damage to the structure, extend its lifespan, and maintain its functionality and aesthetics. Properly executed injection repairs can significantly enhance the durability and performance of concrete structures, ensuring their long-term integrity and safety.
